I’m celebrating the Hatching of the Hippogryphs in the Frayfeather Highlands of Feralas. It’s a new micro-holiday from February 23rd-24th starting at 3 am EST and ending at 3 am EST on North American Servers. You locate an egg and keep it warm to help it hatch, this allows you to have a friendly baby hippogryph rest on your shoulder for 24 hours. You can extend the experience by 5 days after locating the Ancient Frayfeather Matriarch, Lorthalium, a rare that drops a Spectral Feather. Feralas is one of the beautiful zones in Azeroth that many often overlook due to its location. Speaking of Feralas, prior to the Cataclysm, Alliance had a great questline, Freedom for All Creatures. This lead to the eventual possession of a Sprite Darter Hatchling, which at that time only Alliance could get. I, happily, tricked a fellow guildie into going through the questline with me. I digress, back to Hatching of the Hippogryphs.
Once you locate an egg the following can be heard while you stand near:
Oh? Is this egg moving?
The egg seems cold. Stay close to it to keep it warm.
You hear a rustling sound inside the egg.
The hippogryph inside is struggling to escape.
This is it! The egg is hatching!
Your Frayfeather Hatchling has several texts emotes while you fight:
Your Frayfeather Hatchling wants to see more of the world.
Your Frayfeather Hatchling seems to be learning.
Your Frayfeather Hatchling seems to be impressed.
Your Frayfeather Hatchling digs its claws tightly into your shoulder.
Your Frayfeather Hatchling seems bored.
Your Frayfeather Hatchling stretches its wings.
Your Frayfeather Hatchling starts to doze off.
Your Frayfeather Hatchling sighs contendedly.
